The "DUKE" has a new home.....

CYA friends:

What is probably the most iconic RFBR rifle of all time has a new home.

I had a call on my answering machine today from Tomi Korpi who I believe said he now owns the "Duke Of Earl".

You know CYA friends, we get older every day, and so do the barrels on RFBR guns.

The Korpi family is a major player in international RFBR competition.

I'd give anything if Tomi and his family could have seen the Duke back in its heyday.

I'd love to look at the bore of the Duke's barrel.....

Shilen Ratchets have a long barrel life, no doubt about that.

But, they do eventually wear out.

Your friend, Bill Calfee

The way it was....

The way it was....

CYA friends, especially Tomi, the Duke's new owner.

This is the way it was back in 2009'.

Now the PSL struggles to have half that number of competitors.

And I think everyone knows exactly why.

Yes that is true that Duke of Earl has landed to Finland. And he get good family here and he is not retired yet.Tomi and Duke are going to Lapua Schönebeck looking ammo and then we see better how it is working.

Tomi shooted few targets with Duke with Lapua ammo he has now and it seems that barrel is not end yet.

Try to put picture of "First blood" in new home country.

Friend Timo:

If I read your picture correctly, the Duke kicked out a 11.5 MM 10 shot group at 50 meters.

Translating that to the way we here in the USA measure groups, it looks like that 10 shot group converted to center to center measurement, at 50 yards, will be about .200"........

.200" 10 shot groups at 50 yards are most competitive.

Maybe there's still life in that ratchet on the Duke.

Timo, the last time I got to hold the Duke was back in 2012, seven years ago.

Craig Young brought the Duke by for me to autograph the stock, which I did with a paint pen that Craig had with him.

Here's a picture...

You can see the paint pen in Craig's hand....

Oh what memories...

Oh what memories...

CYA friends:

I'm addressing this to Tomi Korpi....the new owner of "Duke of Earl".

Friend Tomi, when I built the Duke, along with Paladin, I knew these two RFBR rifles would shine on the world stage.

Now that you own the Duke, I know you will appreciate this picture...

This is the Duke's first range test...

I knew right then that the "Duke" was destined for greatness...

Tomi, with your and your son's shooting ability, the "Duke" may well shine again.

I wish you and your son well......

And, I will be following your adventures with the "Duke"

Your friend, Bill Calfee

Tomi, now that you will be driving the "Duke", you'll have a hard row to hoe....

When you sit down at the firing line with the "Duke", the World of RFBR will expect you to dominate the proceedings.

I wish you, and your son, the best of luck.

Wonderful letter.....

Wonderful letter.....

CYA friends:

I received a wonderful letter yesterday from the new owner of the "Duke of Earl".

He's extremely proud to be the new owner of probably the most iconic RFBR gun on Earth.

He believes there's still some life left in the ratchet on the Duke.

I hope he's right.....

I will say this, though:

Man, I'd love for him to have gotten to work with the Duke back when that ratchet was pristine new.

I really appreciate the wonderful letter.
