CYA friends:

Somebody brought out his good Lapua at the Virginia State ARA yesterday, then turned that double bad V-1 loose, and crucified the field.....I mean totally crucified that field.....oh my goodness!

Oh my goodness.............

The 2020 ARA Indoor Nationals is shaping up to be the greatest, and most important, pure accuracy event in the history of contemporary RFBR competition.

Mind bending rimfire accuracy

CYA friends:

If I've got the right information, Michael "Black Death Sherrill and Tom "V-1" Wilkinson not only had the same total scores of 14500, when they won the 2019 ARA Indoor Nationals and 2020 Virginia State ARA, respectively....

Now get this.............

All six cards contained the exact same scores.....

Big Dog's two 2500's were the first and last cards...

And Tom W produced back to back 2500's...

Mind bending rimfire accuracy...

CYA friends, Tom W, of course, uses the DiOrio V-1 action.......

I've talked with Tom several times, and he's very comfortable with the V-1............obviously for good reason.

I mean, six 2500's out of his last 17 cards has a tendency to make one very comfortable.....

And technically speaking, Black Death also is a DiOrio V-1.......

Yes, Death uses an E Turbo receiver and locking lugs, but the heart of Death is all DiOrio V-1......breech bolt body and firing pin.

And yes, Big Dog is quite comfortable with Death's V-1 lineage.

And of course they accomplished their mind bending feats with Lapua.

SAP rimfire ignition.

The world of SAP rimfire ignition is in an unenviable position.

It's a tough situation to be in, when the best you can hope for is to tie the consistency of MD-PAS ignition......even if down the road someone figures out how to improve the consistency of SAP ignition.

The best you can hope to do is tie........that's a tough prospect.

CYA friends:

It is difficult to produce rimfire ignition consistency, by passing the firing pin through a coil spring.

A possibility......

What if someone designed a rimfire ignition system, where the firing pin was driven by a spring that was not coiled around the firing pin proper?

This way only the firing pin, itself, would need mechanical guidance by the breech bolt.

You can just imagine the consistency that such a design would produce.......oh man!

Oh wait just a minute, I just thought of something.....

We already have such a rimfire ignition system....

I believe it's called, PAS ignition.
