Al Hadfield has passed

CYA friends:

I just heard that Al Hadfield has passed.

My condolences to the Hadfield family.

Now...............................

CYA friends, in my entire RFBR career, I successfully build two, 6 o'clock chambered RFBR guns.

One of these two amazing 6 o'clock chambered rifles, was for Penny Hadfield, Al's wife.

Penny took that 6 o'clock chambered, Lilja barreled Turbo, and set the IR-50 Meters outdoor World record...

And it was several years before it was broken.

My condolences to the Hadfield family........especially Penny.

Your friend, Bill gun fool Calfee.

PS:

CYA friends:

If I could have figured out how to cut 6 o'clock chambers in all of my RFBR guns, they all would have had 6 o'clock chambers....

But......................

I simply could not figure out how to successfully do them, 100% of the time...

Penny Hadfield, with her 6 o'clock chambered Turbo Lilja, set her Record in 2009

Her record stood for 5 years.

UL Meters----8/16/09------Penny Hadfield----250 22X

CYA friends, I tried every way I knew to cut 6 o'clock chambers successfully, 100% of the time.

Even my ole buddy Alan Hall called, one day, with a suggestion as how to do them...

But, I simply could not make it work.

See..................................

The absolute beauty of a successful 6 o'clock chamber, is that we force the CL ring to build in a specific location....

Then the CL ring becomes an asset to accuracy, not a liability.

Finally..........................

If there's an advancement that can be made in the way we chamber, other than perfectly centered, with the correct amount of leade engraving and a 100% fluid transition from the chamber through the leade and into the bore..

It's developing a way to successfully produce 6 o'clock chambers.

Condolences again to Penny Hadfield.

And congratulations once again Penny on that amazing Meters Record.

Turning a liability into an asset

Turning a liability into an asset

CYA gun fool friends:

The CL build-up from the 22 LR cartridge is a liability when it comes to producing ultimate accuracy.

Is there a way to turn this liability into an asset?

YES

The problem is, it's almost impossible to control the process that produces a 6 o'clock chamber, so a schmidt can produce 6 o'clock chambered RFBR guns, at will.

I know, as I beat my brains out years ago trying.

The next advancement in chambering the 22 LR cartridge, for ultimate accuracy, will be when someone figures out how to execute 6 o'clock chambers, at will.
