Friend lapping fool Timo:

I started a new thread about lapping....the other was getting too big.....

Next lesson:

The paper funnel to pour the lead lap....

Material needed:

1...Target thickness paper......an old target will do.....I have some blue target paper....

2...scissors...

3...1/4" paper hole punch......

4...3/6" taper shank drift.....(punch)

5....masking tape.....good quality....3-M

2645

Cut out a square of paper, notch one corner, then punch a hole in the point of the notch with the paper punch....

2646

Form a funnel and tape it.......leaving a small hole....smaller than the 3/16" tapered drift...

2647

Now, run the drift in the hole so you produce a lip around the hole to fit in the bore....

This is why the drift is tapered, so you can adjust the diameter of the lip.....

After a couple you'll get the hang of it....

You want this lip to stabilize the funnel in the bore as you pour the lead....

2648

I can only post four pictures per post, so the fifth picture will be on the next post....

Continued on the next post....bc

More lessons as they cross my mind....and I have time....

They won't be in any particular order.....just when I think of something....

This lip is critical, cause it keeps the funnel centered in the bore while you pour...
