Amazing........

Amazing........

CYA gun fool friends:

I'm in uncharted territory for the first time in my RFBR career........as a shooter and schmidt...

Shooting cards with a 6 power scope.....

It's not only the most fun RFBR shooting I've ever done, it's the most astonishing......yes, astonishing.

It's simply mind blowing how accurate one can shoot with a 6 power.......if you have a target configured so you can see where to aim.

ZEISS

I have this old Zeiss 6 power.........I thought it was a 4 power, or, I would have investigated it sooner...

DSC00972.jpg

Here I've mounted it on my new MD-PAS triple pistol...

DSC00971.jpg

Here's what it looks like on the target...

It's much clearer than this picture shows..

OK, here's something I'm not sure of:

I have to put my camera on full zoom, to be able to take a picture through a scope.....any scope.

The bulls look larger, it seems, in this picture than they do through the scope.......it seems....

OK, this is a fixed power hunting scope, so what about parallax?

Yes, I did adjust the parallax, and it is perfect.......zero parallax...

But.....................

To correct the parallax, I had to unscrew the objective lens housing about two threads.....

S0............................

I'm going to make up a precision shim, after I determine how thick to machine it, and fit it between the objective lens housing and the scope body, so I can tighten the housing...

I shot it like it is, unscrewed two threads, with no problem......but I want something permanent.

Another thing:

I can see the bullet holes......oh yes......man this scope is crystal clear...

But....................

I can't see the bullet holes well enough to score the bull......I can determine a stout X, or a stout 10, though.

Close 10's or X's, no...........

It's 60 plus degrees today......kinda windy....

But.................

I'm headed back to the range.....

Man I'm hooked....

Here's the actual through the scope picture.

Here's the actual through the scope picture.

CYA friends:

Here's the actual through the scope picture along with the zoomed version...

DSC00974.jpg

So the zoom does make the bulls look a little bigger, and the cross hairs wider.

It's amazing that I can actually see the bullet holes with this 6 power Zeiss hunting scope....

Now I've got to machine a shim to lock the parallax permanently...

Man, shooting cards with a 6 power is so fascinating......

EDIT:

CYA friends:

I need clarify something about these "through the scope" pictures.

The top picture is with the camera on zoom.....and it's the way I actually see the target, the best I can tell.

The bottom picture is a cropped version of the same picture...

Cropping the picture makes the bulls look bigger....not the fact that the camera is on zoom.

Making my parallax adjustment permanent

Making my parallax adjustment permanent

CYA friends:

I've corrected the parallax of my 6 power Zeiss by unscrewing the objective lens housing a couple of threads...

The objective lens of this Zeiss is captured by the housing, so moves in and out with it......which allowed me to set the parallax.

So now I must make a precision shim to go between the housing and scope body......

So I can tighten the housing, locking the parallax permanently in place..

Someway we must see that the masses have access to these pistols........

Shooting these things is the most interesting experience........cause they don't back up from no rifles......

As you shoot one of these things, you're constantly saying to yourself, "How does this thing do this.....I mean, it's a pistol"...
