Is it correct to use anti-seize on barrel threads but oil on the shoulder ?

I use Lucas Assembly Lube in the little bottle on the threads. I use it for other stuff as well and has turned out to be a long lasting, multi-use product for me. I would recommend it to anyone.

Grease like recommended by Mr. Patterson works just as well if you already have some around.

I build engines and have tons of Lucas and Clevite Assy lube. I have experience with the horror of stainless steel galling and contact welding or seizing. I throw my nuts and bolts in oil and let them drip dry when I have a planned project.
Many people don’t realize anti-seize comes in Nickle, Copper and Aluminum and only Nickle should be used on stainless. Although something is better than nothing.
I’ll stick with JPat on this issue and keep myself out of trouble
Thanks to all

I’ve always used stainless anti-seize on barrel threads. I used anti-seize for years when a machinery manufacturer in their infinite wisdom used aluminum gear-boxes with steel lube fill plugs. Works great for me.

My other concern was not pinching anything between the shoulder and face. Anti-seize being high in solids could cause that condition if too much was slathered on. I tend to use too much out of fear of galling. I always use too much loctite on stuff too but that’s a whole different issue.
Sure do appreciate the response. BC would be proud of us for having an informative discussion
