Mr. Calfee,
After reading your book's pages on slugging barrels it seems clear that I should take the time to learn something about the bore in an old Winchester 52B I bought to challenge the local Brnos. I see that you prefer the SK SSHP or HVHP bullets for slugging, but I wonder about using an airgun slug like the .22 cal Haendler and Natermann Slug or the CNC machined Altaros slug. The airgun slugs are smaller, claiming a diameter of 0.217 or 0.218, while my Winchester bore measures about 0.223 at the muzzle. Will the smaller air rifle slugs be useless to determine the dimensions and conditions of my old and much abused bore?
Thanks for your consideration, Mike =]
