Did Bill have a value that he found to be in the ballpark for action to stock torque. I have read where some suggest 5 NM. Seems heavy to me but I'm a novice at BR
Well..... 5NM is approximately 44 in/lb, ...... I personally would never set a stock action screw at 44 in/lb.
Obviously what the stock is made of......what the pillars are made of.......does it even have pillars? (most do....) will effect the answer.
BUT......from my experience with Fiberglass, Dymalux and most of the wood stocks that we currently use for RFBR builds.....I am comfortable with 28 to 30 in/lb.
AS previously stated: Bill did not use a torque wrench for anything! I gain my knowledge of torque setting thru my experience of dis-assembling rifle components that were put together by Bill during our experiments. I have always had the tendency to over tighten, so when I begin to work with Bill.......I checked everything by torque (to learn).
