Friend JP65:

I was saddened when you told me that Dave Manson is no longer in business....

Dave Manson is "was" the greatest rimfire reamer grinder of all time.

Dave took the time to furnish me with Clymer style pilots.....It's so easy to make Clymer style pilots...

Jeff, I still have a like new Manson .225" diameter, 2 degree leade reamer and all kinds of Clymer style pilots for it......

If you need it you're welcome to it......I'll not need it any longer....man I miss building RFBR guns....

By the way Jeff, thank you for all you do for me.................

Friend JP65:

Jeff, I forgot to mention that I also have a ton of the large hole pilots for Manson reamers.....I got these when I had Dave grind me a 5 flute spiral flute reamer so I could chamber Broughton 5-C barrels without winding up with five sided chambers.....you can't chamber a 5-C with a 6 flute reamer....

This is another reason the 4-C is far superior to the 5-C...

Anyway, you're welcome to these pilots.....

For you CYA folks that don't know the difference....

The Clymer pilots use a C clip to hold the pilot to the reamer..

All other reamer makers use a screw to hold the pilot to the reamer.....so the shaft has to be a larger diameter which makes for thin walled pilots..

The Clymer method is far superior...

Jeff, I'm enjoying a sip of Crystal Geyser as I type this.....thank you.

As I understand it.....Manson Reamers are still in business.....but.....Dave sold out. I'm not sure he is actively still involved.
Yes!!! A great loss, although I'm sure he left his "name sake" in great hands.

This is a great shame that he has sold. I enjoyed talking to him on the phone when I made an order. I much prefer my Manson reamers to the others I have. I hope that he may enjoy some more time off and experience less stress from not having to run a business.

I sure hope that the remaining Manson business keeps going with equal quality. My fingers will be crossed.

Friend JP65:

I hope so......although great hands the likes of Dave Manson don't come along often.

By the way Jeff, you might as well come get this spiral cut five fluted reamer Dave special made me so I could chamber the Broughton 5-C barrels.

By the way, I've heard "chambering experts" claim that a spiral cut reamer does a better job since the spiral allows the flutes to cut multiple land tops at the same time.....

This is true when the chamber is almost at its maximum depth.....

But it's not the case when the chamber is first started......

So no, spiral flute reamers have no advantage when cutting rimfire chambers....none.
