Gun Fool
Maybe it's time to change the terminology...
CYA accuracy fool friends:
Why all these threads about rimfire ammo testing centers?
Because a lot of folks who had their guns tested at these test centers, discovered once they got back into the real world of RFBR competition that the "killer" ammo they purchased didn't perform up to expectations.
Therefore................
Why does this happen on a fairly regular basis?
(Finding the answer is the reason for all these threads about the ammo testing centers.)
So.................
The first thing I think I need to do is change the terminology I've been using to describe the testing apparatus.
I've used the term "solid mount".......
And I've used the term RTB......by which I meant to describe an apparatus which allows the gun to free recoil.
So I'm going to start using the term "free recoil" instead of RTB.
CYA accuracy fool friends:
In the real world of RFBR competition all contraptions free recoil to one degree or another...
Folks have various ways of retarding the recoil some, bungee cords, tightening the front rest against the stock or shouldering the rifle like Harry Deneen used to do.
But they all free recoil to some extent, because you can't stop it completely on a rest.
Therefore.............
There's no way a gun can be prevented from free recoiling at an ammo test center, and have the ammo selected work to the same degree when the gun is free recoiling in competition...
So here's the question we need answered:
Do the ammo test centers use a testing apparatus that allows the gun to "free recoil" during the testing?
