6 ignition......

6 ignition......

CYA accuracy fool friends:

I can't wait till Jeff Patterson has time to work with my old RTB set-up....

The first thing I hope he has time to do is test some different lots of ammo with the rest in free recoil mode, then locked down solid mode, to see exactly how each lot acts....

My gut tells me this will explain why a lot of folks who test and purchase ammo at a test facility don't have the same result once they get back into the real world of RFBR competition..

Now, going back to the 80's...

Randy Hopewell and I spent a lot of evenings testing ammo with my old RTB set-up...

One evening one of us, I don't remember if it was Randy or me, suggested running a test to determine if 6 ignition was beneficial to rimfire accuracy....

Since the various actions are held by the front receiver ring only, all we had to do was turn my old 52 D slave up-side-down in the RTB and we had 6 ignition...

Randy did all the measuring and kept the specs.......

Every lot we tested improved when shot 6 ignition.....

This led to me figuring out how to convert my XP pistols to 6 ignition.....which I did several over the years...

The only thing that limited me from converting more of my pistols to 6 ignition was the lack of replacement 40-X breech bolts in case I screwed one up.....

So Randy and I learned the benefit of 6 ignition back in the 80's because of my old RTB set-up..

And now we take 6 ignition for granted.........

Your pistol fool friend, Bill Calfee
