I have a flash turbo I bought my son about 2 years ago. Was told when I bought it that it had a new pepper firing pin spring in it. The gun shoots well but seems to really penetrate the case deep. The way I measure it. It seems to average .028 to .030 case penetration. With the trigger hanger slide all the way forward. So I have a few Wilkinson springs and a diorio turbo spring I was gonna try on it.

Well long story short. Neither of them will fit in the firing pin. They are both to big in diameter. Any one ran in to this before. Looking for some options on what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You can take the Pepper spring, and grind it down a bit, try it, and see how the results look. Do it a little at a time, and I suggest you stop when you get close to 0.023, so you don't take off too much. If you go too far, you'll start to get failure to fire events. I estimate you're needing about .005 off the spring to get to a better place. If you're not sure, or don't have a bench grinder, then leave it as-is. As long as it shoots reliably, you're fine.

Good luck!

Thanks appreciate it. But not sure what I am gonna do when I need another spring. I use Wilkinson springs in other turbos. Would like to to be able to use one in this one if I need to.

Mtg Boy I had just the opposite with my V3 with the crescent pin. I had to slot the trigger hanger to move it rearward and add a shim to the spring to get the desired FP indent. Let us know how you progress with your FP.

Thanks the hanger is already slotted pretty well on this one. There is a little more room I can go. But not real sure what to do when I need to put a different doing in it. I wonder if it’s possible to have firing pin body drilled out a little

With the luck I have with such projects I would try taking a little off the spring first, as suggested by RFS99, rather than modifying the FP. That mod is something that can't be reversed.

I have some springs that are .242 OD
I’m thinking your newer turbo springs are about .252

Yes sir the spring that came in it measures .240 the new Wilkinson measures .251
Tried posting pictures but can’t get it to load

If you want to try one of mine, send a PM with your mailing address
Or I can PM my phone number

Once you get the spring where you want it length-wise, it will be years before you need another, so don't worry about a backup.

Years?? I put a new one in my v-1 turbo at lest once a year

I switched from Diorio springs. Found the Wilkinson spring to be more consistent and my bolt works alot smoother

Your original post said you have a Pepper spring in the bolt? The key marker for a spring change is when you start to have failure to fire events. FYI.

This gun does have a pepper spring in it. My other turbos don't.

@Mtn Boy - Not sure if this will help or not, but over on RA Stiller posted about relaxing turbo springs (possibly vs cutting coils). I did it with my X3L and it seems like it works well. You can hit me up for link via PM either here or any of the other forums that we're both on
